Ae Dil Hai Mushkil movie director: Karan Johar

movie rating: 3.5/5

The Bollywood famous director Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has been one of the most awaited movies of the year. Starring Ranbir, Aishwarya and Anushka, the movie’s teaser, trailer and songs have already been a hit among the audience. After a lot of disputes, ADHM has finally hit theaters today. Our Editor Tushar Joshi is watching the movie at a multiplex right now and has sent us the first impress of the show.

Tushar states, “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s first half is really chatty and confused, in the sense that the emotions of its key roles Alizeh played by Anushka and Ayan played by Ranbir are all over the place. Love is of sequence the central theme of the storyline. Love among friends, love among lovers and that unrequited love of an ex. Karan does a fantastic job of confirming that the pace never loosens and the dialogues keep you engaged. Ranbir is massive from the very first frame. There are plenty references to pop culture favorites and movies we have grown watching and loving, a few are Karan’s own.

The emotional connect among Ayan and Alizeh suffers a huge blow when Ali enters the story. Fawad plays Anushka’s ex-boyfriend whose return gives the plan a serious overtone. The fun and banter among Alizeh and Ayan change into heartbreak and a sense of loss when they understand they can’t be together. Beautifully shot in Paris, Karan is a master storyteller and his take on heartbreak is really raw and intense. The first half has some moments that seem borrowed from a couple of other movies namely Tamasha. Aishwarya fans will be upset because her entry happens only in the second half. The music helps in keeping the first half breezy, particularly the foot tapping ‘Breakup Song’. Fawad doesn’t have much to do except react to the scenes among Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka. The scene leading to the interval suffers from a major Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani hangover. Here’s hopeful that there’s more of Fawad khan and Aishwarya in the portions post interval. ”

The said review also adds that it is the charming performances of the lead cast that makes this love story worth a watch.
